Robin Williams was one of the greatest performers of all time - hilarious, heartwarming, shocking, sweet, and truly genius. This lecture will look at his rise to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with his energetic, irreverent stand-up comedy, to becoming one of the most beloved and iconic actors of his generation, appearing in numerous classic films and television shows beginning with the hit TV series Mork & Mindy (1978-1982). We will focus on his film career which includes films such as The World According to Garp, Moscow on the Hudson, and Awakening. We will also discuss the films that led to his four Academy Award nominations, Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), The Fisher King (1991), and Good Will Hunting (1997), for which he won the Best Supporting Actor.  His career and his films have left a lasting impact on audiences, inspiring future generations of actors and comedians.
