This classic MGM film, considered one of the greatest movie musicals of all time, was released in April 1952 and is now 72 years old. It centers on silent-screen hoofer (Gene Kelly) and his friend (Donald O’Connor) as their latest movie is turned into a musical, when movies begin transitioning from silent to sound. Debbie Reynolds had her breakout role in the film as chorus girl, Kathy. The comedy is full of show-stopping song and dance numbers, including Gene Kelly’s famous Singin’ in the Rain number and the iconic Good Morning sequence.
