Why are mysteries so popular? A mystery is the only type of book where the reader is an active participant. In a mystery, the reader tries to solve the crime (usually murder) before the detective. Ms. Schmitt will examine how the writer keeps the reader engaged in this game of cat and mouse. Together, we'll look at opening hooks, cliffhanger chapter endings, foreshadowing, red herrings, and hiding clues in plain sight.
