Event Details

Stan Herman, author of Uncross Your Legs: A Life in Fashion will be joined by David Alpern, former Newsweek editor and radio host, for a conversation about his life and accomplished career in the fashion industry. One of the most acclaimed and transformational American designers, his extensive career in fashion has included womenswear and commercial uniforms for some of the most iconic corporate brands. On any given day, more people will be wearing Stan Herman’s designs than any other American designer. With compassion and humor, Herman writes about his early life in Brooklyn and New Jersey to his army service in Europe during the Korean War and launching his career as a freelance fashion designer in NYC’s Garment District. For 16 years, he served as President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and was instrumental in bringing New York Fashion Week to Bryant Park. In addition, he’s enjoyed more than 30 years on QVC with his eponymous Stan Herman Collection. In his 96th year, Herman continues to thrive and remains active in the fashion industry every day.
