Event Details
Hollywood is an industry that has always depended on blockbusters. However, beginning in 1974, two young filmmakers, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, changed the way the movie industry made films and introduced the age of the “modern blockbuster” featuring elaborate special effects and thrilling spectacle. Spielberg’s Jaws and Lucas’ Star Wars, neither of which was predicted to be a hit, were huge box office successes and helped to launch the careers of these two influential filmmakers. This presentation will look at their four decades of filmmaking, both collaboratively and independently, and discuss how they changed the movie industry.
